Today’s photo is a shot of the new model of the Olympus OMD series, the EM1 MARK II, about the “burst shooting feature” (PRO CAPTURE HIGH) we took at the World Presentation Days held in Ronda, Spain in November…
With its new system, the EM1 MARK II is capable of taking photos at 60 frames per second. While you are holding the shutter button halfway down, your camera takes pre-shots in case you miss the critical moment in the buffer memory and performs a storage. It keeps it ready in the warehouse. When you fully press the shutter button and complete the shot, it gives you the chance to record almost all the moments of a fast event…
For the shot you see in this sample photo, 4 colored balloons filled with water and an archer were prepared… After counting 1 – 2 – 3, the archer was shooting. What we were asked to do was to press the shutter button halfway when we heard that the counting process had started and to complete the shooting after the arrow had passed… If you heard the 1 – 2 – 3 sound and pressed the shutter button, it would be too late because the arrow had already passed in front of you with the sound of 3.
When you complete the shot by pressing the shutter button halfway at the right moment and then pressing it fully, you could have a chance to catch the arrow that came out of the first balloon, had a part in the second balloon, pierced the 3rd balloon, but could not reach the 4th balloon, as in the example…
